Yael Friedman
I'm guessing that you are going through a difficult time right now, or else you wouldn’t be reading this. The good news is that you have the capacity to help yourself feel better! My role is to help you along your personal journey of healing. My role consists of three parts: creating a safe, non-judgmental space for you to be yourself and to speak whatever is on your mind; helping you learn about yourself and understand your situation from a new perspective; and empowering you to problem solve and turn your goals into your new reality. We can brainstorm ideas together, and I may offer suggestions, but the ultimate choice is always yours. I am an LCSW-C experienced in working with adults, teens, and children. For the past three years I have worked with teenagers and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorders as a therapist in an outpatient mental health clinic. Prior to that, I helped children to succeed emotionally in school during my four years as a school-based therapist. I graduated from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in 2014. I focus on adults and teenagers living with mood disorders and anxiety. I am also happy to work with couples. With training in trauma-informed care, I can help my clients work through their current emotional symptoms by addressing traumatic past experiences. I use a wide-ranging approach to therapy, drawing on aspects of CBT, ACT, IFS, narrative therapy, mindfulness, and more, to best support each of my clients. At the end of the day, it is the warmth, humor, understanding and hope that I can offer that will help you through your toughest times to a happier future.
