Amy Gorniak
I am a licensed psychologist living in vibrant San Antonio, TX. My career in mental health began in 2010 with a Masters in Psychology then licensure as a psychological associate, professional counselor, and, more recently, a psychologist. My graduate study and supervised experience with therapy and psychological assessment have occurred in community mental health clinics, academic medical centers, school-based programs, and private practice. I specialize in partnering with tweens, teens, and adults coping with trauma, loss, and life transitions, struggling to figure out who they are and what matters most in the face of life's challenges (including climate change and social issues). Additionally, I provide assessment for a variety of neurodevelopmental and psychological concerns to help people better understand themselves and identify helpful next steps. I am committed to affirmative, intersectional, trauma-informed practice. So much of our harm happens in relationships, and much of our healing does, too– with our family, friends, communities, and our therapist. We will get curious about your experiences, values, and needs, and what it looks like to you to thrive-- and will build the flexibility, knowledge, and skills to create that life together through an integration of “talk” therapy (ACT, CBT, TF-CBT, ARC, Narrative) and in-the-moment activities (mindfulness, ecotherapy, somatic techniques).
