Amy Halter
I am a curious, skilled, friendly, empathetic listener, and I love being a therapist. I believe everyone has the capacity to heal from anything. I have spent the majority of my career over the last 9 years, in various settings treating significant trauma, but I have plenty of experience with all types of life challenges, including depression, anxiety, ADHD, relationship and family issues, chronic pain, obsessive thinking and compulsions, and many many other topics. I am a person-centered therapist and I have a very flexible approach with clients. I am trained in a number of evidence-based approaches, including EMDR, CPT, DBT, and CBT, and I believe all of these therapy modalities are great for everybody. I will always collaborate with my clients to determine the best course of treatment, and often I will use many different modalities throughout a relationship with a client in order to provide the most comprehensive care possible. Clients can expect that I will listen to them very carefully, and not give very much direct advice unless I am specifically asked for it. I will, however, compassionately and gently challenge some of their beliefs that are bogging them down. I will encourage clients to feel all of their uncomfortable feelings in order to move through them. I will also adapt to each client, and if something is not working well, I will collaboratively change course to better meet my clients' needs.
