I am a licensed clinical psychologist, which means a hold a doctorate degree, and trained for nearly 7 years before I was even licensed. I have done extensive continued training in the areas of OCD, trauma and dissociation. I also specialize in working with the LGBTQIAA+ population, including those who are ethically non-monogamous, and those involved in the kink community. I tend to be great with clients who have struggled to feel connected to other therapists in the past. I take a very here and now approach to therapy. We can talk about your past experiences but I will direct you to pay attention to how that impacts you in today. I usually start by offering skills to deal with your contemporary issues and then focus on processing with parts work, talk therapy or EMDR. Client's tell me they never wonder what we are doing in therapy because I explain what I am aiming to do and am regularly seeking feedback for how it is going for them. Therapy is for and about you and my goal is you are getting what you want and need. I always want to help people decrease distress and increase the ability to deal with life as it happens; however, it is my job to follow your lead as your goals are what is important not mine.
