Angelica Hernandez
It is said that safe spaces give us the opportunity to attend to your own needs. Self-care impacts the people we care for and care about. I strive to provide a judgement-free and safe wellness space. Professionally, I have an MS in mental health counseling and 14 years as a practice therapist. I also have years of advocacy work w/ survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as crisis intervention and case management. As well as counseling work at the university level. My philosophy in part is drawn from a person-centered approach, meaning that building a working relationship is very important for creating the safe space in which you can heal and grow. While you can expect an approach that is conversational in nature, I also consider myself somewhat eclectic, drawing from different modalities to best fit the client’s goals. Please know counseling is not just advice, and it is not necessarily easy or a quick fix. We can’t fully cut out uncomfortable feelings. It is said that growth doesn’t lie in our ability to avoid places of discomfort but in our capacity to confront them. As your therapist I will teach you the tools to confront them. I will be present, a caring listener - gentle and respectful when addressing difficult subjects, while being honest and transparent. I will meet you where you are in your journey.
