Anne Marie Ruta Buchanan
My education includes a BA in Psychology, an MA in Dance/Movement Therapy, and an extensive amount of continuing education in anxiety and grief. In addition, I have had over 30 years experience involved with inpatient and outpatient mental health with adults struggling from psychological issues, including bereavement and loss, anxiety and mood disorders, psychosis and personality disorders. With grief and loss, I gently guide my clients through education and empathy. As a companion on this difficult journey, I enjoy supporting clients as they process the pain and eventually find hope in an emerging new life. For anxiety, I provide psychoeducation on the brain and body's response to threat, and look for ways my clients behaviorally shift so that they can decrease the intensity and frequency of symptoms that get in the way of them living their ideal lives. My clients leave feeling understood, informed and resourced in handling their thoughts feelings and behaviors resulting from their unique loss and anxiety journey.
