Ariel Carter
I received a MA in Clinical Counseling and Psychotherapy from the Institute for Clinical Social Work, and I offer depth-oriented therapy to adults, particularly people navigating experiences and difficulties with their families of origin. Before becoming a therapist, I studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, working in creative writing and painting. I bring my interest in creativity, and the stories we're surrounded with to my clinical work. In addition to addressing symptoms and circumstances that bring someone into therapy, I also work with my clients to take a look at how other parts of your life and patterns of thinking and behavior might play into those, and work to make sure your distress is addressed through systemic change, rather than temporary relief. Therapy is a collaborative space where you and I work together to understand more about your experiences and the best way to bring about positive changes. I meet people where they are at, prioritize open listening, and offer insights and challenges when appropriate.
