Ashley Tweed
I am a queer, trauma-informed therapist who focuses on clients’ strengths and abilities to help them overcome challenges - in relationships, at work, and within themselves - to have more fulfilling lives. I received my MSSW from the University of Tennessee in 2012. I worked in Tennessee, but moved to Boston and later to Los Angeles, where I was a therapist at the Los Angeles LGBT Center. I enjoy working with the LGBTQIA2S+ community and believe that all people deserve affirming care. I believe clients are the experts of their own experiences and should be validated as the complex humans that we all are. I have found that people are often much harder on their own mistakes and faults than anyone else is... our brains are our own worst enemies! I encourage people to be introspective in a more compassionate way. Shame thrives in the dark, and I like to provide a space to allow folks to explore what they think needs to be hidden or small and bring it into the light. I know that trust takes time to build, and I seek to provide space that makes that possible. I want clients to know what they value and create goals that align with them, whether that is to have a more peaceful inner world or to have thriving relationships. I invite people to come to therapy as they are and to be supported through the changes they want to make.
