Becca Greenevan Horn
I am a licensed creative arts therapist (LCAT: drama therapy-specialty), received my Master's from NYU, and am a registered drama therapist and board-certified trainer. I've worked in community mental health and private practice in New York City, have taught drama therapy at the graduate level (Lesley University, Boston), and have worked with children and teens for 30 years as a teacher and therapist. I am also trained in general clinical mental health counseling. My strengths-based approach is centered around the Rogerian person-centered, unconditional positive regard for the client, and the belief that they have the ability to find their answers, shift their thinking, change their negative patterns and empower themselves as experts in their own lives with the support of the therapist. In addition, I draw from other approaches that include Drama/Psychodrama and Creative Arts Therapy, Narrative Therapy, CBT and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Clients will experience someone who is listening to them with empathy, acknowledging their issues, and validating their feelings and experience from a place of respect and humanness. Together we will focus on doable goals that the client will work to accomplish during and between sessions. The client will take away a greater sense of self and personal empowerment, a more expanded understanding of themselves, and how to maintain balance in themselves and their lives.
