Betsy Oquendo
From a young age, I've always been drawn to helping people. This passion led me to pursue a career in psychology, and I eventually specialized in substance abuse and mental health counseling. My personal experiences with mental health challenges in my family and circle of friends have deepened my empathy and sharpened my listening skills. I view my role as a compassionate guide, dedicated to supporting my clients as they strive to achieve their goals. I believe in having an approach that is individualized to the client that I am treating. My treatment tends to be holistic in that I tend to look at all of the factors affecting the client. In terms of therapeutic approaches, I tend to use CBT, DBT, person centered, motivational interviewing and mindful methods when working with clients. My approach tends to be semi-structured with inclusion of homework assignments to be discussed in further sessions. My practice is grounded in the values of understanding, compassion, humility, balance, and authenticity. It's important to me to provide a safe space where you can express yourself freely and without judgment, and to do that, I strive to build a trusting and supportive relationship with you. I hope to get the chance to meet and explore how we can work together on your journey toward healing and growth.
