Carie Starnes
I enjoy working with adults that have (or think they might have) ADHD, are anxious, have PTSD, and those in recovery. After a series of life changing events, I went back to school and obtained my MSW at UNR. I completed my studies at the ripe old age of 42. I truly enjoy helping others navigate the complexities of their emotions, balance personal and professional obligations, be reasonably comfortable with themselves, shed unreasonable self expectations, and become their most authentic selves. There is no one-size approach to therapy. I will work with you to determine the path to obtain your goals. This may include re-authoring your story to give it meaning, mindfulness practices, inner-child work, exploring deep consciousness, and education on the how and why different modalities work. I am trained in Brain Spotting, EMDR, CBT, ACT, IFS and a few others. I enjoy reading, exploring new methods, and continue to take classes to expand my resources to become a better therapist. The 15-minute consultation is to ensure that we a good match. The first few sessions is focused on your history, what you want to work on, and determining your goals. At the end of each session, you should take away some skill to incorporate into your week to practice and see if it is helpful. My goal to help you gain skills and tools. I work with my clients to heal from the past, find acceptance with what is unchangeable and courage to face the future.
