Cleo Thompson
I am an LCSW in North Carolina. I have over fifteen years of experience working with preteens to seniors. My experiences have taught me the importance of being an active listener who is not judgmental nor condemning. My goal is to come alongside the client by working together towards solutions and or relief. I strive to inspire each client or family by using a strength-based model. My specialties include Ethnic discovery, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focus Therapy, and Meditation and the therapeutic use of prayer. Because every situation is different and flexibility is essential, I also use eclectic variations of Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Strength-Based strategies. Since prayer, meditation, and relaxation exercise have been shown to relieve tension and provide focus, we will consult about their use during the counseling sessions. We will start each session with a discussion, including a brief review of the prior week. Then, we will work towards a more formal process, which may involve psychoeducation, skill development, and learning new strategies. Typically, we will meet once a week. Skill development will include in-session and out-of-session assignments. I will guide the process, and together we will set comfortable pace to establish the goals and objectives for improving your emotional health.
