I have been licensed as an LMFT since 1989, and have both inpatient and outpatient treatment experience. I use EMDR to treat trauma and mostly work with adults and experiencing depression, and anxiety. I start with gathering clinical information from the client, which include symptoms, current psychosocial stressors, areas that need more support, and also inquire what the client's goals for treatment are. we discuss and decide on a plan of action to target the goals the client has, and begin doing the work. clients can take away fresh perspectives, psychoeducation, resources that are useful and practical for the patient in lowering their symptoms, new tools to better cope with stressors, a deep sense of release from their troubled past, and the creation of new skill sets to create their present and new life that they are in the process of creating.
