Ellen Usatin
I was born and raised in Odessa, Ukraine. Mental health counseling is my second career. I have over 20 years of experience in healthcare as a Registered nurse. I hold a bachelor degree in nursing (BSN) from New York University and a master degree in clinical mental health counseling from Touro College. I have two teenage daughters and enjoy spending time with my family as much as I enjoy counseling. I love animals and take care of my dog Levy. I feel passionate about wellness and creativity. I view counseling as a person centered, creative process of healing, wellness and self-discovery. I strive to help my clients identify and capitalize on their strengths and to quiet down the inner critic, in order to find their own voice and meaning. I respect cultural and spiritual aspects of my clients' worldview and their unique background. Perhaps you are feeling stuck, discouraged or depleted. You are having a hard time coping with life's challenges or struggling with relationships. Together, we will create a safe space where you can be yourself freely and without judgement. We will explore your challenges by looking into your background, personality structure and upbringing. I appreciate how difficult it is to connect with the right therapist who gets you and is invested in your progress. I take the time to get to know and understand my client's unique situation and perspective regardless of how long we work together- few sessions or few years.
