Healing is a calling that has led me to explore my own multicultural ways of healing as a bicultural Latinx therapist. I graduated from the Masters program at the FSU College of Social Work, became licensed (LCSW), and later fully EMDR trained. The majority of my work has been with marginalized communities in the context of trauma related to interpersonal violence at the intersections of racial, ethnic, gender, and sexual identity. As such, culturally responsive modalities are a passion. Clients who decide to work with me should be ready to engage deeply and authentically. My approach is empathetic and requires accountability, radical honesty, and a commitment to the work of healing. I hold space for the power of telling our stories while understanding that for some people healing needs to start not with talking but deeper, inside the body or spirit. EMDR, movement, expressive arts, and connection to land (including plant medicine) offer ways to do this. Clients can expect that therapy will be a collaborative process by which we can help shift and reshape distressing experiences in the safe container of the therapeutic relationship.
