Gail Newman
I graduated from the University at Albany Mental Health Counseling Program in 2020. My internship was completed at PROS RSS where I honed my expertise in trauma treatment, embedded within a generalist psychotherapy background. While I specialize in helping people who have experienced traumatic circumstances and/or serious mental health issues, I am a generalist practitioner who is able to meet the needs of a wide variety of problems people may seek counseling for. I provide evidence-based therapy that is person-centered. This means that I use my clinical expertise to actively treat the concerns that are bringing you into therapy in ways that are tailored specifically to you. When meeting with me, you can expect to be treated with warmth as a whole person who has individualized identities, values, and strengths. My goal is to aid people in becoming happier and healthier individuals, whatever this means to you. I have an active and engaged therapeutic style. In our work together, you can expect to gain insight, be supported and also challenged in a non-judgmental, caring environment. We will work together to identify your unique goals as well as your obstacles to creating meaningful change while using innovative and practical strategies for forward movement with an overarching goal of leading a happier, healthier and more productive life.
