Isaac Sussman
I am a psychotherapist with a background in graduate social work, improvised music, and the study of philosophy and religion. My social work degree is from New York University and I have also completed advanced training in existential-humanistic and relational psychodynamic therapy. I work with individual adult clients who often struggle with such issues as anxiety, self-esteem, relational problems, existential concerns, and life transitions. I offer an experiential and relational form of therapy that helps clients to become more aware of their patterns of relating to self, other, and world that have developed and that provides space for new and more fulfilling experiences to emerge. My approach holds the subjective experience, needs, and desires of the individual in the utmost regard. I greatly value present-moment exploration, transcendence, and playfulness. The first session will give clients a taste of what it is like to work with me in an experiential and relational way. My aim is to have clients leave the session with a strong sense of acceptance, of curiosity, and of possibility about deepening their experience of life.
