Jake Hernandez
I was born and raised in Queens, NY by parents from the Dominican Republic. Mental health was never a topic of conversation growing up, until I told my parents I was gay at 16. Back then, psychotherapy provided a safe space for myself and my mother, which lo and behold became a catalyst in pursuing a career in psychiatry. I am a board-certified psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner holding dual licensure in New York and Florida. I graduated from New York University with bachelor's degrees in nursing and psychology, followed by a master's in psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. Before becoming a PMHNP, I worked as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse at an inpatient psychiatric facility for college students in NYC. I started ZenzyTalk to help not only fill the gap in mental health care, but also provide a level relatability in therapeutic spaces between patient-clinician. I provide medication management and adjunctive psychotherapy services for adults, specializing in depression, anxiety, ADHD, and more with a theoretical integration of humanistic therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. I recently moved to Orlando, FL from NYC so I spend a lot of my free time exploring local spots, specifically new restaurants and coffee shops. I travel often for fun, adding destinations every year.
