James Walsh
My name is Jim Walsh. I graduated from Fordham University in 2000 with my Masters degree in Social work MSW. LCSW-R. My therapy mode is Cognitive Behavioral, Psychodynamic and 12 Step oriented. I have a lot of life experience and I'm also a recovered Alcoholic. I have a wholistic approach. I believe we are physical, mental and spiritual beings. I enjoy eastern philosophy and it informs my thinking. In our work we may employ various therapy frame works but I'm open, honest and empathetic. My therapy approach is Cognitive Behavioral (we need to work on cognitive distortions or erroneous thinking about yourself or others), Psychodynamic (We explore your past and discuss how it has effected you),and 12 Step oriented (When I work with clients who have addictions I find this the most direct was to help them see their addition clearly. Usually first sessions are to get to know each other. so I will take your history and we will begin to formulate a treatment plan. I'm very open minded and empathetic. What you will take away from your first session will be hope that the work has been started and we will process your issues and you will feel better.
