My specialty is less in what I treat and more in how I approach therapy. In contrast to the "healthy normality" assumption of Western psych., My approach assumes that the psychological processes of a normal human mind (thoughts and feelings) are often destructive, creating suffering through inflexible thinking. Basically, our internal systems sometimes get outdated and stuck. Instead of problem focused, I'm values focused. Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Family Systems, we'll identify where you're stuck and how to move forward. I've found this work to have benefited my own journey, and I'd like to share what I've learned with you. Some do "talk therapy". I do "do therapy." It's about stepping into action. We will find what you're about and how to move in that direction. I don't reduce symptoms; I help you produce meaning. You will not always leave "feeling better" from our sessions, but you will hopefully feel more empowered to meet life's challenges. Therapy is about building practices that help you feel more psychologically flexible whenever you get stuck.
