Joyce Sauter
I am an advanced level Certified Clinical Trauma Treatment Professional. I am also the author of a cross-cultural studies book and have a Cross-cultural Master's. It is my pleasure to assist individuals from highly diverse backgrounds. My Master's in Social Work is from the University of Houston, where I completed a National Child Trauma Project Fellowship. My Social Work experience is in both for profit health care settings, and in crisis shelters. Using my skills and experience in trauma-informed therapy, I partner with my clients to identify and overcome barriers to personal fulfillment. My therapy style is tailored to the individual's needs, and can include Trauma-Informed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Family Systems, Motivational Interviewing and Psychoeducation. Each session flows from the individual's report during check-in. Working from an agreed-upon overall treatment plan, each session we explore ideas and skills that bring us closer to achieving the individual's goals. It is my experience that when a person feels respected and heard, discussions flow easily and result in significant healing. Clients are encouraged to try out a concept or practice between meetings and report back what they learned.
