As a former U.S. Marine, mechanic, probation, and correctional officer, I have seen scores of hurts, failures, and successes that life can give. Now, after a decade of studies coupled with seven years of practice as a psychotherapist who specializes in trauma-informed care, I may be the person who may shed some light on an often darkened and discouraging path we walk. Life is not meant to be forged alone, and sometimes we need to be reminded how strong and capable we are. Finding peace and healing requires grit, hard work, self-compassion, forgiveness, and often complete surrender.
