Juliana Whitaker
I am familiar with experiences of immigration, discrimination, workplace issues, family dynamics, and identity, I have worked with students, sexual assault survivors, marginalized, and Spanish speaking populations. Treatment areas include complex trauma, nervous system overwhelm, and relationships. I received my clinical training in New York State through a mental health counseling perspective. I majored in Psychology and minored in Urban Studies and Planning at UC San Diego, My approach to therapy is holistic (mind, body, wellness, social support/community). I believe one's innate capacity for self healing, determination, and neuroplasticity. It is essential to consider contextual factors such as family of origin, social position, and cultural identity to name a few. My clinical strengths include discussions of diversity and emotional management skills. I specialize in treating trauma through EMDR. I also offer Internal Family Systems modality for complex trauma. The therapeutic process includes establishing trust, identifying strengths, skill building, emotional processing, and empowerment. Sessions cultivate mindfulness meditation, body based skills, internal family systems awareness, and identification of strengths,.
