Kristin Owen
I received my Bachelor’s of Social Work from Saginaw Valley State University and Master’s of Social Work from Michigan State University. I am also a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor through the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals. My professional experience includes working in Substance Abuse Treatment and Co-Occurring Disorders, Community Mental Health, Private Practice, and Case Management in an acute hospital setting. I specialize in, but not limited to, substance use disorders, including co-occurring disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma disorders, adjustment disorders, severe mental illness (SPMI), emotional dysregulation, and borderline personality disorder. I am trained in EMDR therapy and DBT. I tailor evidenced based interventions, such as but not limited to EMDR, DBT, CBT, and Motivational Interviewing, to the unique needs of the individuals I serve. I have over 9 years experience working with adolescents, teens, and adults of all ages. I take pride in creating a safe, non judgmental space for the individuals I serve that promotes growth and motivation for change for their individual journeys. I hope my clients are able to have a sense of relief, relaxation, support, and clarity after sessions.
