Laura Hanley
Hello! As a therapist specializing in helping mothers overcome trauma, I understand how activators and triggers, and the feeling of "not good enough," can constantly seem to hold us back. It doesn't have to be that way. My practice experience includes work at the VA and the Mayo Clinic, as well more than four years of providing therapy. I've worked with individuals recovering from religious trauma, sexual assault and domestic violence, and chronic stress/caregiving concerns. My approach is holistic, warm, engaging, and challenging. I love to laugh, go deep, and ask big questions but I'm just as capable of offering practical next-steps and ideas. I understand that although I'm the mental health professional, you are the expert in your own life. I'm formally trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. I utilize concepts related to Polyvagal theory, IFS, CBT, and DBT, Gottman Couples Therapy, and Bowenian Family Systems. Clients can expect an open, respectful, and curious approach to their situation and their concerns. Respect, transparency, empowerment, and self-direction are at the core of any treatment plan, which is always completed in collaboration. Clients can expect both practical steps to help them move forward, based on their individualized goals, as well as larger, systems-based questions to help them assess their overarching goals and underlying motivations.
