We are not meant to face life’s challenges alone. Whether the challenges we face are external (a major transition, a loss) or internal (low self-worth, defeating or frightening patterns of thought) we need someone to help us acknowledge our pain, hold space for us, as well as facilitate growth and healing. Supporting you in your journey means understanding that I may be an expert in the field, but you are the only expert on you and your own life experiences. No two struggles are the same and I find great value in working as a team to make sure your needs and goals are met as a unique individual. Every person I’ve worked with holds many positive strengths and admirable qualities, I will help you use those to your advantage so you can create new patterns and chart the path you want. My professional background as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) includes a Master’s degree from Columbia University and 8 years in practice helping people with a variety of struggles recover and start a path to wellness. I often tell individuals I work with “you did the best you could do with the tools you had at that time.” My job is to help you feel better equipped going forward to cope with life’s challenges and heal areas of your brain that make challenges more difficult to navigate. I am very passionate about making therapy accessible to everyone and decreasing stigma around mental health and seeking out therapy. Just as you would see a doctor for an injury, or exercise to improve your physical health, our brains also require care and attention. Taking time to care for our mental health and improve brain functioning should be normalized and prioritized. Navigating something new can be stressful and being vulnerable is often scary so creating a safe space is my main priority. We will also discuss a treatment plan so you can visualize change and progress which builds hope.
