Lisa Afflitto
After graduating from Rutgers University in 2016, I concentrated on working in different settings so that I could decide where I would like to focus my clinical practice. Fairly quickly, I realized that the areas of chronic illness, health anxiety and supporting families with loved ones struggling with a challenging diagnosis was where I needed to be. When I am not a private practice clinician, I am the mental health coordinator for an adult cystic fibrosis center in NJ. My approach to therapy is client-centered and solution-focused. I believe that every client is unique, so no treatment plan will be the same. I often use ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) with my clients because the principle of acceptance is so important for clients who have the goal of being more functional and happy in their lives. Clients can expect warmth, patience and definitely some humor when they are working with me. I want my clients to feel comfortable. We will set achievable goals together, and incorporate skills and techniques that you can use in your daily life.
