Lisa Bellamy
I am a New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a certification in Victimology and trauma. I am also a Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment Professional. I am experienced in treating depression, anxiety, trauma-related symptoms, substance use symptoms, family issues, life transitions, occupational stress, relationship issues, acculturation issues, and youths with serious behavioral and school related concerns. I ensure a warm, empathetic, safe space for my clients to express and work through their concerns in a collaborative manner. I use an integrative therapeutic approach as I’m aware that some aspects of different modalities can effectively help a client. In addition, I also utilize cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, multi-systemic therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness-based therapy, trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic therapy, amongst others. I expect that my clients will leave our session feeling like they are the narrators of their own stories and that they have the power to determine how their stories progress and the outcome of those stories. I also expect that they will leave our session feeling empowered in knowing that they have the tools needed to make the necessary changes that they seek. Most importantly, I want them to take away a sense of hope in knowing that they have made the first step in their journey towards healing.
