Marc Davis
I received my MS in Mental Health Counseling from CUNY Queens College and am currently working toward obtaining my BSN and MSN as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I have years of experience working with teens and young adults dealing with anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation from my time as a crisis counselor in Long Island's most eminent crisis center, and as a clinician in one of New York State's largest clinics. My style uses a combination of solution-focused and rational emotive/cognitive behavioral approaches. I take an active role in the treatment process, working with you to create concrete goals and asking deliberate questions to help you to achieve them. I'm also a firm believer that a healthy amount of humor goes a long way in the therapeutic process. This doesn't mean I don't take the issues at hand seriously. Rather, I believe in the healing potential of laughter and positivity. I like to plan for the last session in the first. You can expect that we will set clear goals of what you want to achieve in therapy, as well as discuss how we'll collaboratively achieve them. Some sessions may end with an assignment or "homework" to do outside of therapy in order to supplement the work we do in therapy.
