Allison Whitmyer holds a bachelor's degree in social work from Bowling Green State University, where she graduated summa cum laude as part of the University Honors Program, and a master's degree in social work from the University of Cincinnati, where she was part of the Advanced Standing Program focusing on mental health. She has worked in the mental health field since 2008, and as a mental health therapist since 2014. Allison has a wide range of clinical experience with individuals aged two years to 65 years, including individuals with co-occurring developmental disorders. She is currently focusing her practice on the treatment of trauma-related symptoms, PTSD, OCD, and anxiety. She has specialized training in eye movement and desensitization reprocessing (EMDR) and internal family systems-informed therapy, and she integrates multiple therapy models to find the most effective approach for each client. Allison involves each client in setting their own goals for therapy, and then tailors the process to that client's needs. Clients can expect to practice new skills and strategies outside sessions. Clients are encouraged to provide feedback about what is and is not working for them about the therapy process. Ultimately, Allison's goal is for clients to build confidence in their coping ability, so that they feel good about ending the therapy process when they're ready.
