Michael Zone, LCSW, JD, MEd is focused on working with men with busy and demanding careers and the challenges they face including lack of work-life balance, stress, lack of career satisfaction and relationship challenges. I help men answer the question: Why am I the way I am? Why do I do what I do? People have a need to understand themselves and why they respond and react in a certain way. Perhaps it comes from childhood; family of origin; pop-culture; a peer group, or evolution. Is it nature, nurture or both? We all have a narrative of our life and how we became the person we are. But, is that narrative accurate? You just don't understand. It just doesn't make sense. Somehow, all your success has only led to depression; your achievements to anxiety and your accomplishments to a pervasive emptiness. From the outside, everything seems great. But on the inside, you feel trapped, unsatisfied and living a "life of quiet desperation." You wake up everyday lethargic and unmotivated. You are just going through the motions. What's wrong with you? Everyone says you should be happy and grateful. But they don't see the war being waged inside. You are supposedly living the American Dream! So, why does it feel like a nightmare? It took you so long to get here. Why can't you just be happy? We don't like gaps in our understanding. It's difficult to move from point A to point B without a map. By combining Psychodynamic Therapy, Evolutionary Psychology and a Person-Centered approach, we work to get to the bottom of why you are the way you are and how to get to where you want to be.
