I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with the state of Texas. I am married, empty-nester and have 6 grandchildren. I am a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors. I'm a Masters level psychotherapist, graduating from a Christian based university in Texas. I have counseling experience in many settings and have worked with age groups from 5 years to senior adults with many forms of issues. My approach to therapy is that everyone is an individual with their own story and yet have the same basic need for compassion, love, empathy, and support. I also believe as a therapist, it is not for me to force any belief on the client, but to utilize the client's life views and experiences to find solutions to their issues. I utilize modes of therapy that are CBT, DBT, ACT, and Mindfulness, along with Solution Focused methods. I will be an active listener without judgement or preconceived ideas. I see each person as a unique individual with their own life experiences that are unlike anyone else. I request the client to be in the pilot's seat and I only act as a navigator to help guide and provide resources that can hopefully be their in the future when the client is ready to fly on their own.
