Paul Avolese
I have over a decade of experience working in the mental health field. I believe that change happens over time, and that small moments of healing can lead to significant life changes. I provide a non-judgmental space of complete acceptance. I treat anxiety and depression, help navigate life transitions and identity, and heal past trauma. As a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I work with folx to explore gender identity and sexuality. Primarily, I utilize therapeutic modalities that focus on the mind-body connection to help reconnect you with your emotions and body. Some of these modalities are known as “bottom up” approaches to therapy, which teach people how to process unresolved emotions that interfere with thinking and everyday life. I bring a practical and neuroscientific outlook to our work together, bridging gaps between more subjective and abstract views of emotions. Working with me, you will learn a combination of mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, and EMDR skills. Additionally, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing will be interwoven into our work when needed. This combination of treatment allows us to help you feel more connected to yourself, improving connection with others and the world around you.
