Hi, I am Peggy and I have a Master's Degree in Professional Counseling. I am trained to diagnose mental health disorders utilizing the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders (DSMV). My professional orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Many mental health problems stem from negative thoughts, which can be from cognitive biases, distortions, and delusions, such as experienced in Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Depressive Disorders, and Schizophrenia. After the intial introductions, I generally, obtain informed consent, and then begin therapy with the presenting problem, and assessing symptoms that have brought the client in for therapy, including the client's history. I diagnose only if the client meets DSMV criteria. I refer out for testing or medication. According to research, mental health disorders are best treated utilizing both medication and mental health therapy. My clients can expect to take away hope from the very first appointment. The environment is warm a friendly, accepting, and non-judgmental. But, they are aware they must participate, be compliant, and consistent with the process, if therapy is to be successful.
