I received my PhD in Counseling Psychology from Northeastern University, MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Wake Forest University, and BA in Art History from Davidson College. I have worked and trained primarily in college counseling centers and residential and day treatment for eating disorders. I work with adolescents and adults with eating disorders, body image concerns, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship concerns, family-of-origin issues, and cultural/identity concerns. The foundational goal of our work is to help you understand yourself better. We will explore your internal world of emotions, body sensations, and thoughts, as well as your interpersonal world of relationships, identities, and culture, with compassion and curiosity. We will uncover the ‘why’ behind your symptoms and emotions to help you get your needs met. Therapy is not just talking about; it is having new experiences of yourself in a safe, trusting therapeutic relationship. You'll leave our sessions with a deeper understanding of yourself, your emotions, and your relational dynamics. Our work is compassionate, curious, and strengths-focused, so you'll also leave with deeper compassion and respect for yourself and the ways you've coped with painful experiences. You'll also leave with practical strategies for change outside of the therapy session.
