Robert Magyar
I earned my MSW from Rutgers University after changing from Engineering to Psychology during my undergraduate years. I primarily focus on trauma work but have a wide-ranging skillset and have worked with chronic pain, depression, anxiety, grief/loss, identity issues, relationship and communication issues, and more. I have worked with a variable population, of multiple genders, sexual orientations, races, and cultures; I am also LGBTQIA+ affirming/supportive. I prioritize getting to know my clients and them getting to know me. I find it silly to consider that therapy can truly work without some fairness around openness of oneself. I will be an active partner in your experience and help you feel in control of your life's course. I can be relaxed or push you when necessary, but always encourage you to self-reflect. Your direction will always be yours to decide, without any judgement, and I will support you along the way. I aim to facilitate self-reflective, intrapersonal growth in my clients and combine this with active/specific skills and new routines/patterns of thinking to continue improving their lives through. To this end, clients can expect active engagement throughout their tenure with me, walking away with an increased confidence and holistic view of themselves, and objective skills and perspectives to apply when things get tough.
