Sarah Abelson
Hello, I'm Sarah Abelson, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) committed to guiding individuals towards emotional well-being and personal growth. I hold multiple degrees, including my Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, as well as a Masters degree in Educational Psychology, with a concentration in School Psychology, both from The College of Saint Rose. My educational background, coupled with over 10 years of experience in behavioral health, equips me to provide effective, evidence-based therapy. My areas of expertise include anxiety, depression, stress management, self-esteem, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, behavioral issues, learning disabilities, life transitions, and relationship issues. I have also worked with individuals and families facing cancer, chronic illness, and grief. Empathy is at the heart of my therapeutic approach. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can openly express your thoughts and feelings, and feel empowered through treatment. Through genuine understanding and validation as well as an integrative approach, we'll work together to explore your emotions, uncover insights, and develop strategies for positive change. My most important take-aways are that you feel you've been heard and that you are valued. Therapy should be a space where you feel safe to be yourself, and take risks to make changes in your life. Together, we'll identify your goals, actively collaborate on techniques and strategies, and celebrate your progress along the way.
