Sheila Cubine
I earned a Bachelor's in Psychology with a Criminal Justice minor at UT Tyler. I graduated from UT Arlington with a Master's of Science in Social Work with a focus on Mental Health/Substance Use. I have worked as an intern with individuals diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and Hep C, then later with hospice patients and their family members. I have had an array of experience working with hospice companies, children aged 5-18 in outpatient PHP/IOP setting and inpatient crisis unit at a hospital. Positive psychology and unconditional positive regard are most important when applying evidenced based techniques to empower people to create their desired change. My approach is what the person is comfortable with; I meet the person where they are. I am competent using CBT/DBT, SFBT, Trauma informed, narrative therapy and more. During my time in social work I have had the opportunity to be with individuals during difficult times and joyous times of recovery/maintenance. I have served as a mentor for many, many people who have struggled with substance use, domestic violence, childhood trauma and identity confusion. I have supported and empowered individuals with active psychosis and mood dysregulation. My goal is to help people know their own power so they can live a life they are happy with.
