Sophie Murphy
I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist. I’ve trained at the Seattle School of Theology & Psychology, the Gottman Institute, IITAP, the C.G. Jung Institute of Chicago, IPI and MAPS. As a non-binary trans woman, I am committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment where all individuals can explore and embrace their authentic selves. In broad terms, anyone interested in a Jungian approach would find value in my practice. When I say 'Jungian', I'm referring to the approach pioneered by Carl Jung, which encourages delving beneath the surface of life to explore our full selves. In therapy we engage with the entire individual, in all their intricate layers of complexity. This approach isn't about 'fixing' thoughts, feelings, or behaviors, but rather about being with someone on their journey towards authenticity and wholeness. The heart of psychotherapy lies in an experience of ‘withness.’ Consistent, weekly sessions help create the safety that’s essential for this work. Our time will be a shared commitment to an open-ended exploration of your psyche and personal wellbeing. By focusing on what feels most relevant to you, we follow the natural flow of your energy. My approach provides steady, compassionate support, allowing you to unpack the layers of your challenges in a thoughtful and nurturing environment.
