
Sung Woo Kim
Tom received his Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University and is currently a Doctoral Candidate at The University of Georgia. Tom has extensive experience in research, education, and counseling in the areas of behavioral addictions, adolescents and young adult mental wellbeing, identity development, and trauma. Tom comes from experience in doing clinical work in school-based settings, private practice, and a crisis line. Tom is dedicated to catering his counseling approach to be rooted in evidence based and culturally adapted approach. This includes allowing a safe space for individuals to openly and constructively explore their identities and how they intersect with the heavy burdens they have had to carry. Tom isn't afraid to ask tough questions to walk alongside the client towards healing and empowerment. Good counseling can often be uncomfortable as it challenges our previous ways of coping to incorporate a refined and renewed path towards empowerment and healing. Tom believes strongly in the power of providing a safe, constructive, and reflective space so that good counseling can flourish. Sessions with Tom includes reflecting on our experiences and navigating together on ways to better our lives towards mental wellbeing.
