Tameka King
I am Tameka King, a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have worked with a diverse population including people with trauma, anxiety, depression, learning disabilities, grief and loss, and relationship problems. My practice also provides career and couples counseling. I bring to the counseling profession many years of integrated experience as a trained and certified educator of 23 years and specialist in working with individuals with learning and behavioral disabilities. I like to think of my work with client's as flexible enough to pivot to the needs of the individual, while remaining focused enough to achieve client goals. My practice specializes in providing services for individuals and couples aged 19 and older in the use of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, General Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, and a Person-Centered /Experiential Approach to Therapy to address life’s challenges and transitions. The above therapeutic models are useful to clients suffering with anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and family dynamics. seek to provide resources, therapeutic support, and skills trainings that will promote life balance and a greater sense of well-being for individuals, couples, and families that are impacted mental illness, or by life’s unpredictable transitions. My goal is for my clients to feel heard, supported and validated. After sessions with me, my client should feel supported in developing a personal toolkit that makes navigating the challenges and changes of everyday life easier; while creating better balance and a healthy understanding of how to meet their own needs. Client's will be empowered to know how to safely and confidently integrate what they learn and explore in sessions to improve their interpersonal relationships and quality of life.
