
Tamra Samuels
Tamra Samuels is a Licensed Professional Counselor who works primarily with adolescents, adults, and couples. She holds a master’s degree in Counseling Education from Wayne State University and is currently a doctoral student of psychology in Capella University. She has experience working with patients who present with a wide array of concerns including anxiety and depression, general stress, family issues, LGBTQ and sexual identity concerns. Ms. Samuels has knowledge in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and focuses on approaches to help patients identify areas of their lives that are not functioning optimally and devising a step-by-step plan with detailed strategies to help improve the overall quality of life. In addition to CBT, Ms. Samuels has experience in other forms of therapy including DBT, MRT, TF-CBT *informed, behavioral therapy, Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness strategies, and strengths-based approaches. Ms. Samuels uses many of these techniques in her work with patients. Ms. Samuels believes that building a strong connection with patients, with a focus on collaboration and self-determination, is a must and really enjoys helping patients to give them tools to be successful in the future.
