I have 10+ years of experience helping people with trauma, anxiety, substance issues, and relationship challenges. I take a trauma-informed approach by focusing on the way past experiences cause problems in the present. I use a combination of open discussion and focused goal-setting to help those I work with achieve mental wellness. I use EMDR Therapy to help resolve past problems that lead to overwhelming emotions and reduce persistent negative feelings about yourself. I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy to learn mindfulness skills and relationship skills to enjoy more of life. And I use Person Centered Therapy to allow those I work with to feel heard, understood, and explore themselves further. I decided to become a mental health professional because I know what it's like to be in a confusing, and dark, place. And I know what it's like to have someone else, who has walked the same path, reach out and offer their guidance through some of life's most difficult struggles. I love watching people overcome, grow, and change. I love seeing the goodness that still remains in times of darkness. I believe genuine connection to others is one of the most powerful ways we can overcome many mental health challenges. There are many different theories and philosophies for recovering from mental health challenges. But I think the most powerful factor is feeling heard, understood, and taking positive action.
