She believes in working in partnership with clients, utilizing their strengths to help them sort out their challenges and achieve their goals. She also realizes how important it is to identify all aspects of an individual’s life that impact their well-being including their physical health, support systems (family, friends), work or school environment, and faith/spirituality in this process.
Her clients include children, adolescents, families and adults. She has extensive training in treating childhood trauma and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder which includes EMDR and TF-CBT, both evidence-based treatment modalities. She has worked in community mental health settings, school social work, inpatient psychiatric facilities, child and family agencies, community health, mental health advocacy organizations, and private practice. She utilizes a variety of techniques and skills drawn from recognized therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused, DBT, Psychoeducation, Play Therapy, behavior modification, mindfulness and relaxation.
Her primary goal in counseling is to help others regain hope for a future filled with a sense of identity, spirituality, morality, self acceptance, self worth and overall happiness. Over the past twenty five years, she has worked within the child welfare and family courts systems, been a clinical case manager, clinician, program manager, and clinical coordinator thereby impacting policy and practices in mental health. All of which has been her divine purpose and she strives daily towards those efforts.
While walking her purpose, she attained formal education from University Of Missouri St. Louis where she gained my BA in Psychology, M.Ed. In Clinical Mental Health Counseling w emphasis in Integrative treatment from CACREP Accredited program. She has also attained Degree in Non-Profit Management and Leadership (NPML) in Public Policy & Management. She is Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). She currently is the owner and lead clinician at SkiWise Behavioral Health & Wellness Services with the goal of proving training and culturally intelligence to up and coming clinical professionals.
