Alycia Scott
I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in work with college students, BIPOC women, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community. I also specialize in working with visual and performing artists, those who are having difficulty in their relationships (romantic or platonic), and people who are feeling unhappy in life but aren't quite sure why. I can help you figure out what's missing. As a Black queer woman, I have a unique understanding of the impact of multiple minority identities and always approach my work from this perspective. My work is guided by the principles of Acceptance and Commitment therapy, which emphasizes shifting your perspective away from the idea that the key to happiness is to never feel upset. In fact, looking carefully at why we are hurting and how we are struggling in our lives, and leaning INTO our hurt places, can be the key to reducing our pain. I can help you to do this important and powerful work, while also helping you to develop ways to cope with life’s stresses in healthy ways. Most of all, I focus on getting to know you and your story, in order to work with you to figure out how you can start to live the life you want. I look forward to providing you with a supportive, safe, and non-judgmental space where you can get in touch with your emotions and desires, come to know and accept yourself for who you are, and figure out how to live a more authentic life.
