Anne Combs
I have been working in the behavior health field for 40 years as a therapist as well as a clinical supervisor and administrator in small and large behavioral health organizations. I was born in Kentucky and have lived in Cincinnati area for over 30 years. I went to graduate school in West Virginia and am fully licensed in Ohio. After my years of administration, I found myself increasingly drawn back to doing more work directly with people, particularly those struggling with depression, anxiety and a relief from their day to day struggles. I have experience with people experiencing career challenges and relationship issues all the way to people who have a severe mental illness. I love helping people find solutions to their particular issues. I focus on the here and now and while I recognize and acknowledge the significant impact a past trauma may have on one’s life I like to focus on helping people find the most effective way to deal with that impact in order to have a good life. I have a significant amount of experiencing helping people become more successful in their professional roles and can work with you on this if this is your need. My education and my many years of professional experience and my age has provided me with a perspective about people and how they communicate with each other that can be valuable. My style is friendly, warm, interactive and practical. I have a good sense of humor and, while its a little strange that I don't get many jokes, people often laugh at me for making jokes and for joking about myself. I believe that learning to communicate effectively as well as to laugh at ones' self are primary tools for healing. I use techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). CBT usually involves efforts to adjust thinking patterns and or behaviors that can help you learn better ways of coping with life's full variety of stressors. SFBT focuses on a change model that takes on problems one at a time, sets a goal and accomplishes it quickly. I I also have a number of hours of training in Executive Coaching as well and this provided me with a slightly different perspective on therapy that is slanted toward a problem solving model. Join me! I believe you will find it comfortable and challenging and designed to meet your specific needs. Following are some comments that have come from other clients: "She was a great therapist and at times I didn't "feel" like she was a therapist. She herself was very honest and will tell you how it is unbiased and that was very insightful. She cares and shows it. It's not just words and she does try to help by making YOU look at what's going on and show you different ways to see things. She offers things for you to read or watch to show you different way to do or approach situations and makes your head think. I'd recommend her to anyone." She is so good at validating my strengths and reminding me that I am so much more than the collection of my trauma. She has worked to provide me with solutions and alternatives to help me manage my feelings in the moment and pursue healing my relationship with myself" Written on Apr 14, 2022 after therapy with Anne for 1 month on issues concerning stress, anxiety, depression, self esteem, relationship issues, family conflicts, coping with life changes, and trauma and abuse "Anne Combs completely changed my life for the better. This is the first time I ever talked with a therapist, I waited far too long. If you are having mental troubles, it is absolutely imperative that you at least try therapy! It will work, especially if you have a positive mindset and do what is suggested. It will work, I have proven that it will work for anyone who has a positive attitude and USE THE TOOLS! I was in a terrible place, I feel so fortunate that I was able to work with Anne, a real GAMECHANGER!"
