My practice focuses on treatment of depression and anxiety in adults, adolescents, and children (ages 7 and above). We also conduct psychological and neuropsychological testing for children and adolescents for Learning Disorders, ADHD, and other conditions that may be impacting academic performance or other areas of their life. The primary psychotherapy modality used with our patients is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). CBT involves identifying patterns of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that get us stuck, and then implementing strategies outside of our sessions to gradually change the unhealthy patterns into healthier ones. Unlike some traditional forms of psychotherapy, the ultimate goal of CBT is for the patient to become their own therapist. This is accomplished in a collaborative manner with the therapist, who uses their clinical experience and expertise to help the patient identify patterns they may have initial difficulty recognizing on their own.
