My intention as your therapist is to empower you to move out of feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or confused, and into a state of greater satisfaction or peace. I work with clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, relationship and communication challenges, and a variety of other concerns. Together we can build both understanding and practical skills that enable you to meet the goals that you establish. I bring a curious, empathetic, and fairly active stance to therapy sessions. I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches, including cognitive behavioral, solution focused, interpersonal, emotion focused, and psychodynamic. I support clients in deepening understanding of their experience, in identifying patterns that do and don’t serve them well, and in experimenting with alternatives to find choices that provide more positive results. It is common for my clients to increase their confidence and sense of control over their lives. Through exploring current and past challenges, as well as building on existing strengths, clients experience relief from internal and external sources of distress. They develop a more expansive and nuanced sense of who they are and can be, and are able to engage with the world around them in a more gratifying manner.
