Callie Parsons
I have been working as a therapist for 11 years and have gained experience counseling with couples, families and individuals of many ages (including teens and pre-adolescents). Areas of focus include trauma, substance abuse, couples' issues, marriage, divorce, severe and persistent mental illness, grief, chronic illness, life adjustments, depression, and anxiety. Education: Southeastern University Professional Experience: Non-profit, Private Practice, In-Patient Substance Abuse, Group Counseling I utilize a narrative approach, specifically in regard to trauma, along with an emotionally focused approach to therapy. At times, I will also bring in some cognitive behavioral techniques, when needed. What I believe is most important though is the connection between counselor and client. When trust is built, there is a safety and ability to bring one’s true self to the therapeutic relationship and work toward the client's goals. Clients can expect a gentle approach without wasting time. Individuals and couples can also expect to be heard fully and not judged in any capacity. Hopefully clients will walk out of a session feeling that they want to continue in therapy as a tool in their journey to make their lives more of what they want them to be.
