I'm so glad you're here. You might be wondering, 'What is a somatic therapist?' Well, as a somatic therapist, I use a blend of top-down processing (cognition/thinking) and bottom-up interventions (bringing awareness to the body's responses and how they connect to our cognitive processes) to offer a more holistic approach to healing. My goal is to encourage awareness of Self while honoring your unique personal expression of healing, growth, and change. Somatic Psychotherapy is particularly effective when thinking alone hasn't changed behavior or when there's difficulty incorporating thinking skills and strategies we've learned. Somatic therapy is especially beneficial for those experiencing anxiety, trauma, PTSD, attachment wounds, or grief. It also supports individuals interested in transpersonal work or mindfulness skill-building. I also integrate Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques to help unearth your intrinsic motivation to change. I also use EMDR to support the integration of traumatic memories and experiences, along with evidence-based strategies from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). If you're ready to embark on a journey of healing and self-discovery, I'm here to support you every step of the way.
